Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.
 

In today’s world, we cannot imagine a day without technology. It has become a basic need for every person. From the moment we wake up and have a hot shower using the geyser to switching off the television or using our phone before sleeping, we all are surrounded by technology. It is definitely a useful servant but a dangerous master.

During this pandemic, we all were drawn closer to the wonders and even the dangers of technology. Technology is used from toddlers, teens, parents to senior citizens. Technology is in fact a very useful slave that connects teachers to their eager students in a single click so that the spreading of knowledge doesn’t stop. In a single click, employees can have a meeting so that the pandemic doesn’t affect their company or business. People could order groceries, vegetables even in lockdown using various applications. We could buy daily necessities from e-commerce websites. Lockdown was a boon for people to give time for their long-left passion or to learn new skills, which was only possible using platforms like YouTube or enrolling in online courses. In a nutshell, we can say that technology was the biggest support during lockdown which made life easier even in challenging situations.

Even though we all agree that technology is a useful servant and is very helpful, it’s equally true that it is a very dangerous master. The moment technology starts taking over your mind, you are going to get into serious trouble. All the social media and other such platforms are made in such a way that they attract users so that they can earn income. When we say technology is all around us, we also mean that distractions are all around us. For instance, if we are studying or working, at the back of our mind we are thinking about the post we just uploaded on Instagram or how funny the meme was, which you read sometime back and various similar things. This prevents us from completely focusing on our work and giving our 100%. We all know the fact that spending long hours in front of the screen on games or social media, harms your health.

However useful technology might be but we must be careful of its dangers. We must keep in mind that “Technology is for our development and not a distraction acting as a barrier between our development.”
